To improve the efficiency of electric water heating installations, Heatrae Sadia now includes an insulated cover for the temperature/pressure relief valve on its direct Megaflo HE, Megaflo Solar and Megaflo SystemFit unvented hot water cylinders.
Investment in a state-of-the-art thermal imaging camera has enabled Heatrae Sadia to prove the insulated cover significantly improves heat loss figures. In addition, thermal imaging has demonstrated that Megaflo HE's integrated immersion heater reduces heat loss, when compared to an exposed immersion heater boss.
Heating manufacturers are under increasing pressure to reduce the amount of energy their products use, especially because in 2010 energy labels are likely to be introduced for all water heaters as part of the EuP Directive, which aims to reduce the environmental impact of products throughout their life cycle.
Robin Wood, head of Heatrae Sadia's electrical division, said: "There's a huge focus on the energy efficiency of heating products at the moment. While Megaflo HE continues to be a successful, market leading product, we want to keep improving and evolving. Part of this includes looking at energy efficiency and heat losses - and the insulated cover for the temperature/pressure relief valve has certainly made a big difference.”
Heatrae Sadia believes Megaflo HE's success is due to a number of factors. These include hot water recovery rates and performance, the unique internal air gap and floating baffle system, the guarantee and quality of support package offered and the materials used to manufacture the cylinder.
