ElectroMax Solar

Date - December 2009

In 2009 Heatrae Sadia launched a solar thermal version of its ElectroMax 'one box' electric heating solution, which provides full wet central heating and unvented domestic solar thermal hot water from one compact unit.

Ideal for new builds, ElectroMax Solar reduces installation time and is a neat, consistent solution - but is also designed to solve electric SAP calculation dilemmas.  As a result of the way electricity is principally generated in the UK, electric heating products are penalised in the Government's SAP calculations - despite the fact they are highly efficient at the point of use.  So, even if electric heating is more appropriate than gas, an installer or specifier might find it difficult to secure a 'pass'.

Electromax Solar utilises solar energy, meaning SAP targets can be met more easily.  For example, installing a typical electric boiler and unvented cylinder in a two bedroom flat would score 35.81, which is a fail.  But, specifying a new ElectroMax Solar system with an appropriate solar collector brings that down to 30.43, which passes.

ElectroMax Solar can be used with flat plate solar collectors or evacuated tubes, and comprises an Amptec electric central heating boiler, an unvented Duplex domestic stainless steel cylinder with a purpose designed solar coil, solar hydraulic and electronic controls, an LCD display panel and expansion vessels.
