Design Awards 2019

The Design Awards is back again! We've taken on board feedback from Universities to make the competition and entering it even better!

So if you're talented, full of innovative ideas, and fancy winning £5,000, then why not give it a try and enter!

Once again, we are searching for the next generation of talent to design an innovative product in the “Water Heating” product category.

By entering the competition, you will not only be in with the chance to win £5,000, you will also learn valuable employability skills, such as thinking commercially, time management, presenting and a whole lot more.

This fantastic competition is open to UK university students, giving them the opportunity to win £5,000! There are also two runner up prizes, 2nd place wins you £3,000 and third place wins you £2,000.

The winner will also be fast tracked through to the interview stage of our graduate scheme if they are a final year student.

The competition will open on 3rd September 2018 and entry submissions must be sent in by Friday 11th January 2019.

The first round of judging will happen in February 2019.

The final judging round will happen in March and the winner will also be announced in March 2019.

Yes. All of those taking part must, however, be studying at a UK University. Providing your design is picked as a winner, the cash prize will be shared equally between you. If you are a runner up, you will all be offered a 3D printed model of your design, a factory tour with an award certificate, product development presentations and a Q&A session.

Yes. The competition is open to all UK University students who feel they can meet the brief.

After the final closing date on the 4th January 2019, a team of industry experts will review the projects and pick five students to enter the second stage. The five designers that have been selected will be announced in February 2019. There will be an invitation for these finalists to visit our Norwich offices and present their product to a panel.

The panel will discuss and review each project and select an overall winner. These will be announced in March 2019.

There will not be an awards ceremony, but all winners will be invited to one of our UK offices and presented their award by our company director. The winning students will have a full day at Heatrae Sadia, where they will have the chance to gain insight to the function of a real world, successful manufacturer. They will receive a full factory tour and sit in on product development presentations and Q&A sessions run by industry professionals.

No. The design you submit should not have been commercialised or manufactured elsewhere.

There is no guarantee that your design will be produced by Heatrae Sadia. Our main focus for the Heatrae Sadia Design Awards is to give young designers the opportunity to gain industry experience with a market-leading company.

Yes. In the event that you are a winner, runners-up or finalists of the competition, by agreeing to our Terms and Conditions, you are confirming that you will take part in any associated publicity and promotional activity.
