Design Awards 2017

Heatrae Sadia is searching for the next generation of talent to design an innovative product to a manufacturing standard. This Design Award competition is to celebrate innovative design that encourages efficient energy use and overcomes various design challenges such as space consideration, increasing production costs and lack of industry innovation.

The scheme is open to UK University students on a relevant degree program. Your goal is to design an innovative and energy efficient 'Electric Water Heating' product. Your challenge is to find a solution to overcome the various changes faced in the industry by manufacturers in the commercial and domestic market.

Yes. All of those taking part must, however, be studying at a UK University. Providing your design is picked as a winner, the cash prize will be shared equally between you. If you are a runner up, you will all be offered a 3D printed model of your design, a factory tour with an award certificate, product development presentations and a Q&A session.

Yes. The competition is open to all UK University students who feel they can meet the brief.

After the final closing date on the 31st May 2018, a team of industry experts will review the projects and pick five students to enter the second stage. The five designers that have been selected will be announced in June 2018. There will be an invitation for these finalists to visit our Norwich offices and present their product to a panel.

The panel will discuss and review each project and select an overall winner. These will be announced in August 2018.

There will not be an awards ceremony, but all winners will be invited to one of our UK offices and presented their award by our company director. The winning students will have a full day at Heatrae Sadia, where they will have the chance to gain insight to the function of a real world, successful manufacturer. They will receive a full factory tour and sit in on product development presentations and Q&A sessions run by industry professionals.
