We want to help you make an informed choice of heating system. To do this we've put together a range of useful information on energy efficiency and climate change.
We're committed to energy efficiency and sustainability, being one of a select few UK businesses to have achieved the ISO50001 worldwide standard for managing our energy use across our business operations and product portfolio. The achievement of ISO50001 is the fourth internationally recognised standard Heatrae Sadia has attained, having already achieved ISO9001 for quality, ISO14001 for environmental impact and OHSAS 18001 for occupational health & safety.
Having become certified for this highly prestigious accreditation under the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 50001, which sets out a formal energy management system, we must regularly demonstrate that we are able to measure and monitor our energy consumption and use action plans to actively improve our energy efficiency with a continual culture of improvement.
Our market-leading Megaflo Eco offers a number of features that place it well ahead of the competition on performance, quality and reliability. To minimise heat loss, a 60mm thick void-free layer of high-performance polyurethane foam fills the space between the inner vessel and outer casing for maximum insulation efficiency.
Megaflo Eco's carefully moulded one-piece insulation cannot separate in transit to ensure that its effectiveness is maintained, unlike other designs, which rely on the butt jointing of sheet materials. Megaflo Eco is supplied with an innovative casing which insulates the temperature and pressure relief valve. The base is fully insulated and the unit stands on three moulded feet to minimise heat losses to the supporting floor. Immersion heaters and controls are fully integrated - no large external bosses to radiate heat.
Using thermal imaging cameras, the benefits of Megaflo eco's minimal heat loss design are easily seen. The images show the relatively low levels of heat loss from Megaflo eco compared to traditional cylinders in the high heat radiating areas of the immersion heater boss and temperature and pressure relief valves.
Whether it's for the home, workplace or demanding applications such as sports and health club shower rooms, there's a Megaflo to suit your needs.
As a leading UK manufacturer we take our corporate social responsibility seriously and are proud to be environmentally conscious. Climate change is caused by increasing amounts of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, released into the atmosphere. A range of legislative measures has been introduced by the Government and forms a fundamental part of the UK's strategy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 60 per cent by 2050.
The Code for Sustainable Homes (the Code) has been introduced to drive change in sustainable home building practice.
A zero carbon home uses renewable fuels, does not consume fossil fuels (non-renewable resources) and is highly insulated. The Government's 'Standard Assessment Procedure' or (SAP) gives national energy efficiency ratings for dwellings.
ErP stands for Energy-related Products. ErP is a European Union (EU) directive to improve energy efficiency and performance standards of products. The Energy related Product (ErP) directive will eventually affect all products that have an environmental impact during their life. ErP comprises two directives, Ecodesign and Energy Labelling, that will help the EU achieve its 20-20-20 target to reduce energy use by 20 per cent and increase the share of renewable energies by 20 per cent by 2020.
The Energy Labelling directive requires space and water heaters to be labelled with an efficiency band, ranging from A+++ to G. An energy label for the installed system is also required, depending on the components used (for example, where a boiler and room controls are fitted). The Energy labelling should be a simple concept for consumers because this system is already established for white goods, such as refrigerators, dishwashers and more recently, tyres.
