A team of 20 employees from Heatrae Sadia have recently volunteered to participate in the Scafell Pike Mountain Challenge, taking place on 20thSeptember 2014 in the Lake District National Park.
04 August 2014
The event will see the team climb over 3,000 feet to the summit of the tallest mountain in England, in support of the chosen charity partner for 2014, Marie Curie Cancer Care. So far in 2014, Heatrae Sadia employees have already been helping to raise money for the charity, giving up their time to volunteer for projects and getting involved in fundraising campaigns.
Heatrae Sadia and its partner company BAXI have set a combined target to raise £50,000 for Marie Curie through various events and initiatives in 2014 and the UK businesses have already fundraised over £36,000 towards this target so far. The Heatrae Sadia team have already begun training hard for the Scafell Pike Challenge, as the climb is across difficult terrain and in often changeable weather conditions, it's certainly not going to be a walk in the park.
Marie Curie was selected by employees as the national charity partner for 2014; the charity provides care to people with any terminal illness in their own homes or in one of its nine hospices. The charity is also a leader in research into the best ways of caring for people with a terminal illness. Just like Marie Curie, Heatrae Sadia is an ethical and socially responsible business too; the partnership with Marie Curie further demonstrates our vision of working with charities that share our commitment in working to improve the local communities and society in which we operate.
