Heatrae Sadia recommends that all our appliances are serviced annually by a competent person. For full maintenance and performance advice and instructions, please refer to the installation and user manuals for your Heatrae Sadia product or contact our aftersales Customer Support team. The following information is intended as a guide only.

Cylinders

To ensure the continued optimum performance of our unvented cylinders, they should be regularly maintained. This is of particular importance in hard water areas or where the water supply contains particulate matter.

Maintenance should be carried out by a competent person and any replacement parts used should be authorised Megaflo genuine parts. It is recommended that maintenance is carried out every 12 months and should include periodically descaling the immersion heater elements. The operation of the safety valves should also be checked, to check water is discharged and that it flows freely through the tundish and discharge pipework. The strainer within the pressure reducing valve should also be inspected and cleaned.

Your cylinder thermostat should be set at 60°C/140°F. You don't need the water any hotter, and you will save money if you turn it down. If your tank is not insulated, you can easily lag it yourself. You can insulate the hot water pipes around it at the same time. The tank jacket and pipe insulation should cost no more than around £15, and could save you a further £35 a year.

On completion of any maintenance or service, the Benchmark "Installation, Commissioning and Service Record” should be filled in to record the actions taken and the date the work was undertaken.

Electric Boilers

To ensure the continued optimum performance of our electric boilers, they should be regularly maintained. Maintenance should be carried out annually by a competent person and any replacement parts used should be authorised Heatrae Sadia genuine parts. In hard water areas where no water treatment measures have been taken the units may require descaling. All the electrical terminations should be inspected for any signs of overheating.

Electric Water Heaters

To ensure the continued optimum performance of our electric water heaters, they should be regularly maintained. Maintenance should be carried out by a competent person and any replacement parts used should be authorised Heatrae Sadia genuine parts. The Temperature/Pressure Relief Valve and the Pressure (Expansion) Relief Valve should be regularly checked. Little maintenance is required, however in hard water areas the unit will require periodic descaling to ensure efficient operation.

Drinking Water appliances

Any maintenance on our drinking water appliances must be carried out by competent persons. A competent person will be trained, experienced and qualified to work with this type of appliance. The appliance should be disconnected from the electrical supply before removing the cover.

Some of our drinking water appliances incorporate an electric scale conditioning function which will reduce the rate of scale deposition in hard water areas. However, some deposits may still occur in the storage tank; these should be periodically removed. The amount of use of these units will also determine the quantity of scale build up. A regular inspection of the tank every 6 to 12 months will provide longer life of the product and maintain optimum performance (removal of the steam plate assembly, where applicable, will give access to the storage tank). Periodic cleaning of the screen vent filter within the inlet pipe will prevent debris collecting which could result in reduced performance.

Hand Dryers

To keep our Hand dryers operating efficiently and to prolong the life, the inlet filter, grill and outlet nozzle should be regularly vacuumed to remove lint and dust. Any stubborn particles may be removed by gently brushing the filter. The outer case should be cleaned using a proprietary cleaner suitable for the surface finish.

Ventilation

Proper functioning of our ventilation units, their effectiveness and service life can only be assured if the systems are visually inspected and maintained in accordance to specific provisions based on normal operating conditions. If the ventilation units produce unusual noises or vibrations, this may indicate that the motor module or bypass valve is faulty.

If the ventilation systems are being used under harsh operating conditions or in a very dirty environment, extra maintenance may be required. The filters may need to be replaced or cleaned periodically to ensure continued optimum performance. It is advisable to check the ducts in the housing once every four years. The ducts must be cleaned once every eight years. Cleaning should be carried out with a damp cloth; avoid using any abrasive chemicals.
