In September 2015, a new Energy related Product (ErP) directive from the European Union (EU) came in to effect. The ErP regulation is mandatory for all countries in the EU for space and water heaters.

What does ErP mean for installers?
- It is easier to select the most efficient products
- It is easier to explain product efficiencies to consumers, who are already familiar with product labels on white goods such as fridges and washing machines
- When several components are installed together (e.g. a boiler and controls) then an overall efficiency rating and a system energy label will be required for the complete system - Heatrae Sadia will provide tools, documents, advice and guidance to make this process easy
- Consumers are able to understand system efficiency more easily, as tangible energy ratings will be available. Quotes can be based on varying levels of energy efficiency
- It will drive higher quality, best practice installations that take whole system efficiency in to account
How will ErP compliance be enforced and regulated?
- The requirements are included in Part L of the Building Regulations
- The Regulatory Delivery are responsible for ensuring compliance. In all cases of non-compliance all possible action will be considered and the most appropriate selected in order to help those aiming to comply
